Enugu State University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital Resident Doctors Declare Indefinite Strike Due to Severe Doctor Shortage, Insecurity, and Insufficient Residency Program Support
The Association of Resident Doctors at Enugu State University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital has revealed their intention to initiate an indefinite strike in response to critical issues such as the acute shortage of doctors, heightened security concerns, and inadequate support for the residency program. This announcement was made through a communique issued after their emergency general meeting held at the hospital on Tuesday.
According to the communique, the strike is scheduled to commence on January 31, 2024. The decision comes after a seven-week grace period, during which the Enugu State Government failed to address the doctors’ concerns despite repeated notifications and ultimatums outlined in their earlier series of communications.
