Breaking: Tinubu discusses Rivers crisis with Fubara, Odili, and others at Aso Rock
President Bola Tinubu is currently engaged in a closed-door discussion with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Rivers State Governor, accompanied by former Governor Sir Peter Odili and other key stakeholders from the state, is meeting with the President, indicating an effort to address the ongoing tension between the governor and his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Earlier, Wike was observed at the State House, prompting speculation about the nature of the meeting. Sources within the presidency have indicated that the discussions are likely linked to recent developments in Rivers State.
Notably, 27 out of 32 members of the State House of Assembly, who align with the FCT Minister, recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Before the substantive discussions began, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima was observed participating in the meeting.
The involvement of high-profile figures suggests a concerted effort to navigate and potentially resolve the political dynamics and defections in Rivers State.
