BREAKING: Osimhen Prolongs Napoli Deal Until 2026
Nigeria’s striker, Victor Osimhen, has extended his contract with Napoli, securing his stay at the club until 2026.
In a significant move, Italian champions Napoli have officially announced the contract extension of Victor Osimhen, the African Footballer of the Year.
The announcement was made through the club’s official social media handle on Saturday, stating, “Victor and Napoli together until 2026,” accompanied by a photo capturing the Nigerian international striker signing the new deal alongside club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.
While specific details of the renewed contract remain undisclosed by Napoli, Italian media reports suggest the inclusion of a release clause ranging between 120 million and 130 million euros ($132 million and $143 million).
This strategic measure aims to prevent the potential loss of the star player to Premier League suitors without the club benefiting financially.
Osimhen’s previous contract was set to expire in June 2025, and the extension has been a prominent topic of discussion in Italy, particularly since Napoli clinched their first league title in over three decades last season.
Under the leadership of departed coach Luciano Spalletti, Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s success, scoring 26 league goals and captivating Europe with their exhilarating style of play.
The Nigerian striker, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, has amassed an impressive record of 67 goals in 118 appearances.
Despite their past triumphs, Napoli currently find themselves trailing Serie A leaders Inter by 14 points as they gear up for a crucial clash against Roma on Sunday night. Additionally, Napoli faced disappointment in the Italian Cup, being eliminated by Frosinone midweek.
