The Taraba State University chapter of the ASUU has made a heartfelt plea to Governor Agbu Kefas, urging him to settle the long-standing N1.7 billion in earned academic and promotional allowances owed to university staff since 2014.
Adding to their concerns, the Union expressed deep dismay over the prolonged delay in disbursing withheld salaries. Each passing day without resolution exacerbates the financial strain on their members, plunging them further into distress and insecurity.
During a press conference held at the ASUU house at Taraba State University, Dr. Garba Mbave, the Union’s Chairperson, emphasized that the non-payment of promotion arrears and withheld salaries not only imposes financial burdens but also undermines morale and trust in the institution’s fairness and integrity.
Such unresolved issues, Dr. Mbave stressed, could disrupt industrial harmony and compromise the productivity and effectiveness of the university’s workforce.
