On Friday, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, inaugurated the board of the State Bulk Purchasing Agency, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in line with the agency’s mission. The board, chaired by Dan Akpan and with Unyime Etim serving as General Manager/Secretary, includes commissioners from key ministries and representatives from various sectors.
During the inauguration at the State Executive Council Chamber, Governor Eno highlighted the agency’s role in providing staple food items to the needy and vulnerable, particularly amidst challenging economic conditions nationwide. He expressed gratitude to the State House of Assembly for swiftly passing the Bulk Purchase Agency Bill, aligning with the administration’s vision for interventionist measures.
Governor Eno urged the board to collaborate closely with relevant ministries, food producers, distributors, and stakeholders to ensure the effective administration of the food voucher program. He emphasized the need for accountability and readiness for audits, underscoring the importance of adhering to the blueprint outlined for the agency’s operations.
