President Bola Tinubu emphasized his commitment to driving infrastructural and economic advancement in the Niger Delta region during the 6th meeting of the National Council on Niger Delta, held in Asaba, Delta State’s capital.
Represented by the Minister of Steel Development, Mr Abubakar Audu, Tinubu highlighted the significance of the council’s focus on stimulating strategies for economic growth and development in the Niger Delta. He reiterated that these efforts align with the core objectives of his administration as outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of job creation, education enhancement, healthcare improvement, poverty reduction, and the establishment of a more just and equitable society. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate in achieving the goals set forth by the council.
Acknowledging the region’s infrastructure challenges, Tinubu assured that concerted efforts were underway to transform the region’s economic and infrastructural landscape. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing projects and programs aimed at addressing the diverse needs of Niger Delta communities.
To support these initiatives, Tinubu revealed plans to widen the scope of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, renaming it the Ministry of Niger Delta Development. This expansion aims to enable the ministry to oversee policies, projects, and programs geared towards fulfilling the region’s long-awaited development goals.
