Several federal civil servants, in separate interviews with our correspondent on Tuesday, verified that the Federal Government has initiated the disbursement of the November 2023 wage award.
The payment of these wage awards to Nigerian workers was part of the agreement reached between organized labor and the Federal Government as a measure to alleviate the impact of removing the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol.
However, there was a period when the government suspended the payment of these wage awards, a decision that drew criticism from activists and other stakeholders.
This development occurred amidst reports indicating that the government had reduced the allocation for wage awards by N100 billion in the 2023 supplementary budget.
