President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to bringing China’s level of infrastructure development to Nigeria, stating that he has a strong team in place. He made these remarks during a meeting with members of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization in China (NIDO China) and the Nigerian community in Beijing. According to his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s discussions with Chinese leaders and his participation in the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit emphasized the importance of collaboration in infrastructure, trade, finance, energy, green economy, and mining.
Tinubu encouraged Nigerians in China to represent their country positively and highlighted the importance of discipline, using China’s society as an example. He assured the diaspora community that Nigeria’s Bank of Industry is ready to support them in leveraging opportunities back home. The President also stressed the need for difficult reforms to ensure a better future, including investments in education, infrastructure, and economic growth. Despite the challenges, Tinubu emphasized his readiness to make tough decisions and expressed confidence in his team’s ability to achieve these goals.
Dr. Oche Barnabas, President of NIDO China, praised Tinubu for strengthening Nigeria-China relations and urged him to advocate for Nigeria’s recognition as a native English-speaking nation in China, which would expand job and educational opportunities for Nigerians.
