Tinubu: Accusers of Budget Padding Lack Understanding of Arithmetic

President Bola Tinubu criticized Senator Abdul Ningi’s claim that the 2024 budget was padded by N3.7 trillion during a gathering with the Senate leadership at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Tinubu dismissed the accusation, suggesting that those making such claims lack a proper understanding of arithmetic. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between his administration and the National Assembly for the country’s advancement.

During the meeting, Tinubu expressed gratitude for the Senate’s collaboration since his assumption of office. He acknowledged the efficient handling of the budget by the Senate and assured them of his understanding of the budget’s arithmetic. Tinubu stressed the need for the integrity of the National Assembly to remain intact, despite challenges.

Tinubu also discussed the nation’s economic progress, expressing optimism about overcoming current challenges. He highlighted improvements in revenue and emphasized the importance of managing expenditures efficiently. Additionally, Tinubu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing security concerns, particularly in light of recent attacks on soldiers in Delta State, vowing to uphold the integrity of the armed forces and ensure justice for the perpetrators.
