Suspected assassins have killed a Kwara doctor
Gunmen, suspected to be assassins, have tragically taken the life of Dr. David Adefikayo, a highly regarded medical expert and the Medical Director of Dafikayo Clinic in Kanbi, located in the Moro local government area of Kwara State.
The distressing incident unfolded at the doctor’s residence in the same community, marking a shocking and unsettling event for the local community.
The assailants, whose motives remain shrouded in mystery, executed the fatal attack around 8:30 pm on Thursday, forcibly entering the doctor’s home and carrying out the act in the presence of his wife and children.
Despite desperate pleas and even the offer of money and other valuables, the gunmen callously proceeded with their deadly intentions, leaving a profound sense of grief and disbelief in their wake.
Adding to the tragedy, the criminals also abducted one of the doctor’s daughters, Christiana Adejoke Alabi, 23.
Fortunately, there is some relief as she reportedly regained her freedom on Friday, providing a glimmer of hope amid the grim circumstances.
The entire community is grappling with shock and sorrow over the loss of Dr. Adefikayo, who had played a pivotal role in advancing local healthcare services.
As news of the incident spread, residents and colleagues expressed their condolences, emphasizing the significant contributions the late medical expert had made to the well-being of the community.
In response to the heinous crime, law enforcement authorities, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and additional officers, have launched a manhunt in the surrounding areas.
The spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Ejire Adeyemi-Adetoun, informed the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators, promising to provide more details as the investigation progresses.
