On Monday, Gbolahan Oyedemi, a Deputy Commissioner of Police from the Force Criminal and Investigation Department, Alagbon, Lagos State, was discovered deceased in his private residence located in the Ogbomoso area of Oyo State. Oyedemi, previously serving as the aide de camp to the late former governor of the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, during his tenure in 2006, had ties to the region.
While speculation arose regarding the cause of Oyedemi’s death, with unconfirmed reports suggesting suicide, an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway, according to a source within the Oyo State Police Command. The nature of his passing remains subject to inquiry.
A source familiar with Oyedemi’s family affairs shared details, indicating that he had returned to his hometown for Easter celebrations and had instructed his aides to spend time with their families. The discovery of his body, reportedly found hanging in his residence, has stirred shock and disbelief among acquaintances. Despite efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for official statements, confirmation on the matter was not immediately accessible.
