Northern governors vow to collaborate on security, economic development, and other crucial areas

The Northern States Governors have collectively pledged to actively pursue the shared interests of the region, focusing on bolstering security measures, fostering peaceful coexistence, promoting economic development, addressing youth unemployment, tackling drug abuse, and revitalizing education at all levels.

In their inaugural meeting, the forum, chaired by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state, issued a communique outlining their commitment to tackling environmental challenges in Northern Nigeria.

They recognized the impact on rural livelihoods, the conflict between farmers and herders, and the contribution to overall poverty and insecurity. The governors pledged to take concerted actions to mitigate these challenges.

The forum also expressed its determination to expedite regional integration by investing in infrastructure, human capital development, trade, commerce, agriculture, environment, digital economy, and cultural exchanges.

In response to a recent bombing incident in Tudun Biri Community, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the forum resolved to support the Kaduna State Government and the victims by donating One Hundred and Eighty Million Naira (N180,000,000.00) to aid their recovery.

They committed to collaborating on a thorough investigation of the incident, ensuring compensation for victims, and implementing corrective measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Expressing condolences for the lives lost and injuries sustained in the Tudun Biri bombing, the forum commended both the Kaduna State and Federal Governments for their handling of the situation.

They prayed for the souls of the deceased, the speedy recovery of the injured, and strength for the families affected.

Additionally, the forum appreciated the Federal Government’s renewed efforts in combating insecurity, including kidnapping, banditry, communal clashes, and terrorism in the region.

The governors affirmed their unity and commitment to collaboratively address these challenges through enhanced cooperation with security agencies.
