During an event at the Government House in Lafia, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State announced the government’s decision to cover the registration fees for the 2024 National Examinations Council (NECO) for all final-year students in public schools across the state. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on students and ensure equal access to educational opportunities.
Governor Sule made this declaration while inaugurating four newly appointed permanent secretaries and the executive chairman alongside members of the Nasarawa State Disabilities Rights Commission. Additionally, he revealed plans to distribute food items as palliatives to indigenous students enrolled in tertiary institutions within the state.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to mitigating the challenges faced by residents, Governor Sule emphasized the importance of supporting students amidst the economic difficulties prevalent nationwide. By covering NECO registration fees for final-year students and providing relief items to tertiary students, the administration aims to provide practical assistance to alleviate the hardships experienced by students and their families. Governor Sule reiterated the collaborative efforts underway at the federal level, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, to address the prevailing socio-economic challenges and support vulnerable populations across the country.
