The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria has announced its participation in the two-day nationwide protest organized by the NLC, as per a statement by Kennedy Ikemefuna, MWUN’s Head of Media. This decision follows the NLC’s directive for its affiliate members nationwide to fully adhere to the protest.
The NLC initiated the protest in response to the alleged failure of the government to implement agreements reached on October 2, 2023, after the removal of the fuel subsidy, as reported by The PUNCH on February 16. The protest aims to address the widespread hardship, following a 14-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government for necessary action.
