Federal Government Sets Date to Finalize Continuing Fire Service Recruitment

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has set June 15, 2024, as the deadline to wrap up the ongoing recruitment process for the Federal Fire Service (FFS). This announcement comes from the Minister of Interior and chairman of the Board, Olubumi Tunji-Ojo, who stated that the decision aligns with the Board’s revised timeline for employment procedures within the paramilitary services under its jurisdiction.

Speaking through the secretary of the CDCFIB, Ja’afaru Ahmed, Tunji-Ojo emphasized that shortlisted candidates will receive notifications via email and mobile phone messages, directing them to the Board’s portal. He cautioned the public against heeding messages on social media soliciting payment for placement, warning that such communications are fraudulent.

During the Board’s quarterly review meeting with heads of the four paramilitary agencies under its supervision, Tunji-Ojo revealed that 118 cases of misconduct among officers were addressed. The cases span officers from the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The outcomes varied, with some facing dismissal, prosecution, retirement, de-ranking, punishment, or commendation letters, reflecting the Board’s commitment to discipline and integrity within these services.
