Human rights advocate Deji Adeyanju has called upon the Federal Government to ensure that those responsible for the deaths of 16 Nigerian Army personnel face justice. The soldiers were on a peacekeeping mission to Okuama community in Delta State’s Ughelli South Local Government Area when they were ambushed.
The attack, which occurred on Thursday, March 14, 2024, resulted in the deaths of a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, 12 soldiers, and one civilian. The assailants reportedly concealed the bodies of the deceased.
In response to these events, Adeyanju condemned the ambush and killings as a “dastardly act” and urged authorities to spare no effort in bringing the perpetrators to justice. He expressed his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and emphasized their bravery and dedication to serving the country and fostering peace in the Okuama community.
