The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended Ibrahim Abubakar, a 33-year-old butcher, for allegedly stabbing his wife, 25-year-old Hajara Sa’adu, to death. The tragic incident unfolded in their residence at Sabon Gari-Futy in Girei Local Government Area. Abubakar purportedly used a kitchen knife to repeatedly stab his wife in the back, leading to her untimely demise. The fatal altercation reportedly erupted around 4:30 am on Monday, April 8, following a dispute over the whereabouts of his wife’s phone.
Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje revealed that the suspect’s brutal assault left the victim in a pool of blood. Abubakar was taken into custody following a report lodged by the deceased’s father. During the preliminary investigation, material evidence was discovered at the crime scene, implicating the suspect in the heinous act. Abubakar confessed to the crime and expressed remorse over his actions.
Adamawa Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, expressed dismay over the incident and pledged that the command would ensure the perpetrator faces the full wrath of the law. In response, the CP has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough probe and ensure justice prevails. SP Nguroje encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the authorities.
