Gunmen dressed in military uniform abducted Sobomabo Jackrich, the Rivers State governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement, along with two of his loyalists who were shot dead during the raid on his residence in Usokun, Degema Local Government Area.
Jackrich, also known as ‘Egberipapa,’ a former militant leader turned politician, was taken from his home in the early hours of Monday morning. His media aide, Soibibo Sokari, confirmed the incident, expressing uncertainty about the perpetrators’ identity.
While there are claims that the military was involved in Jackrich’s abduction, the state police command denied it, stating that he was with security personnel. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
