Yesterday, the West African Examinations Council, Nigeria, announced the release of results for the inaugural Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2024 – First Series.
This marked a significant shift from the traditional paper-based examinations to computer-based testing for the council’s private candidates’ assessments. In this new format, all questions were presented on computer screens, with candidates providing responses to multiple-choice questions directly on the computer while writing essay and practical test answers in booklets.
The CB-WASSCE was conducted between January 31 and February 17, 2024. Out of the 8,139 candidates who participated in the examination, 3,424 candidates, representing 42.07%, obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language and/or Mathematics.
