Tundun Biri: Reps to probe accidental bombing, orders compensation for victims

The House of Representatives has decided to launch an inquiry into the accidental military bombing that occurred in Tundun Biri, a village in Kaduna State, targeting innocent unarmed civilians.

The resolution came after Umar Ajilo presented a motion of urgent public importance during Tuesday’s plenary session.

Ajilo expressed concern about the recurrent incidents of military bombings on civilians, attributing them to a failure of military intelligence.

He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into these incidents, which are often labeled as ‘operational mistakes,’ to address the apparent lapses in intelligence.

In response to the motion, the House mandated the Committee on Army to investigate the Tundun Biri incident, aiming to assess the extent of damage and ensure appropriate compensation for the victims and survivors.

Additionally, the House called on the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to provide essential relief materials to alleviate the suffering of the affected families.

To express solidarity and empathy, the House decided to form a committee for a condolence visit to the families of the victims and survivors.

The resolutions were followed by a moment of silence observed by the lawmakers in honor of the victims.
