The minister expects the 2024 budget to improve lives

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris-Malagi, expressed confidence on Saturday that the N27.5 trillion 2024 budget, presented by President Bola Tinubu, would bring about significant positive changes in the country once approved by the National Assembly.

Speaking at the opening of the Kaduna State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations event, the minister highlighted the budget’s alignment with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and emphasized its dedication to fiscal responsibility alongside development priorities.

He emphasized that Tinubu’s government acknowledges the significance of careful financial management as a cornerstone for sustained economic stability. The minister highlighted, “Just this week, he unveiled the 2024 Appropriation Bill of N27.5 trillion to the National Assembly, marking the initial full-year budget of his tenure.

The presented budget is a crucial move in realizing his Renewed Hope Agenda, aligning fiscal strategies and priorities with overarching national development goals.”

“As the 2024 Appropriation Bill progresses through the legislative stages, we have a strong belief that its approval will initiate a period of positive transformation, leading to substantial enhancements in the lives of Nigerians.

“Prior to unveiling this week’s budget, President Tinubu had already given assent to a crucial supplementary budget, endorsed significant Bills and Executive Orders, and launched special presidential initiatives addressing fiscal policy reform, Compressed Natural Gas, Food Security, MSME support, and other vital aspects of the economy.”

“The aim has been to provide assistance to the Nigerian people and establish the foundation for genuine and enduring prosperity.”

Idris-Malagi added, “At this point, it’s essential to recall that one of the key elements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s eight-point agenda is ‘Inclusivity,’ emphasizing inclusive policies and programs for all segments of the population, particularly youth and women.

“This commitment is evident in the various appointments made by the President, giving significant roles to young people and women. However, this doesn’t mean we’ve achieved our goals and can be complacent. Not at all!

“We have room for improvement, and I assure you that President Tinubu will persist in pushing the boundaries in this aspect,” he emphasized.

“In addition to appointments and representation, the Tinubu administration has been actively implementing policies aimed at creating a conducive environment for all Nigerians to thrive, encompassing various demographic categories.”

The minister also conveyed his willingness to assist in the advancement of NIPR, of which he is a member.

He stated, “Allow me to address a pertinent issue that I am well-acquainted with, concerning the imperative for a permanent secretariat for the Kaduna Chapter of the NIPR. I am dedicated to supporting the initiative to ensure its realization promptly.

“As the Minister of Information and National Orientation, I reiterate the commitment of my Ministry and the entire administration to promoting robust and transparent public communication, providing citizens with accurate, timely, and valuable information.

In this endeavor, the NIPR is a highly valued partner, and I anticipate your continued dedication to fulfilling this responsibility.”
