At least seven fatalities were recorded following a violent clash between rival cult factions in North Bank, a neighborhood of Makurdi, Benue State. The intensity of the confrontation prompted the closure of nearby markets, as confirmed by an eyewitness.
The altercation, reportedly involving the Black Axe and Red Axe cult groups, was described by Cibilus Odinaka, chairman of the North Bank market, who witnessed the events firsthand. According to Odinaka, the conflict ignited when one faction encountered hostility while attempting to access goods at the market.
