The Supreme Court has upheld Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s election as Governor of Lagos State under the All Progressive Congress (APC), rejecting the appeal filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP). A unanimous decision by a five-member panel dismissed two separate appeals challenging Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the March 18 governorship election, citing a lack of merit.
The Labour Party and its candidate, Rhodes-Vivour, sought the court’s determination on whether Sanwo-Olu was qualified to contest the election, raising concerns about his deputy and running mate, Obafemi Hamzat, having dual citizenship.
