The vibrant world of Nigerian cinema, Nollywood, is grieving the loss of one of its brightest stars, John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr Ibu. The beloved actor and comedian, hailing from Enugu State, captured the hearts of audiences with his infectious humor and memorable performances.

News of Okafor’s passing, announced on Saturday, March 2, 2024, sent shockwaves through the industry, leaving colleagues and fans alike in mourning. His journey in the limelight began in 2004 with the iconic film “Mr Ibu,” alongside the renowned Osita Iheme, catapulting him to fame.

Okafor’s contribution to Nigerian cinema extended far beyond his breakthrough role. With over 200 films to his credit, including classics like “Mr. Ibu and His Son” and “Mr. Ibu in London,” he left an indelible mark on the industry.
