Bandits in Sokoto State have taken 15 students from a Qur’anic school. They’ve contacted the families of the children and asked for 20 million naira before they will let them go. Liman Abubakar, who owns the school, talked about this on the phone with a reporter.
The kidnapping happened in Gidan Bakuso village in Gada Local Government area early on Saturday. Abubakar explained that the bandits called him asking for the money. He talked to the village leader, but they haven’t figured out what to do yet. The police are trying to find the students, but it’s still ongoing.
There’s been a lot of kidnappings lately. Just last Thursday, 287 students were taken in Kaduna State, and on Wednesday, over 200 displaced people were kidnapped in Borno State. President Bola Tinubu has ordered the security forces to rescue everyone who’s been taken.
