The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has announced the downgrading of several feeders from Band A to Band E, affecting areas in Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, and Osun states. Among these, the Farm Feeder serving the Obasanjo Farm was notably downgraded. This decision follows the release of a list by the IBEDC, reflecting changes aimed at aligning power supply allocations with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s directives.
The downgraded feeders are experiencing significant shifts in their daily power supply, with some areas facing a reduction from 20 hours to zero hours of electricity. These adjustments are in response to the removal of certain feeders from Band A due to their revised power allocations. As part of the restructuring, the Federal Government has also ceased subsidies on electricity consumed by Band A customers, while others continue to pay old rates.
The IBEDC emphasized the need for affected communities to adjust to the new power supply schedules. While some areas now have fewer hours of electricity, others may experience extended hours. These changes aim to improve the efficiency and fairness of power distribution across the region, ensuring a more equitable allocation of resources.
