Biden and Trump Set to Meet at White House on Wednesday

Joe Biden is scheduled to meet with President-elect Donald Trump at the White House on Wednesday, following the U.S. leader’s commitment to a smooth transfer of power after Trump’s decisive election victory.

The two leaders will meet at 11:00 a.m. (1600 GMT) in the Oval Office, just ahead of Trump’s return to power in January, the White House confirmed on Saturday.

Trump made a historic return to the White House in the November 5 election, securing a strong victory despite facing criminal charges, two impeachments, and criticism from his former chief of staff. His win marks the continuation of more than a decade of American politics shaped by his right-wing, disruptive approach.

Voter exit polls revealed that the economy and inflation, which surged under Biden after the Covid pandemic, were key concerns in the election. After Trump’s victory, Biden, who had dropped out of the race in July due to concerns about his age, personally called Trump to offer his congratulations.
