Arms and Military Attire Seized by Customs at Lagos Port

The Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs has successfully intercepted a cache of arms and ammunition believed to be smuggled into the country by a criminal syndicate. Alongside these illicit weapons, the authorities also discovered military camouflage and illegal narcotics, including Colorado. The recovered arms comprise automatic single-barrel rifles and pump-action guns.

As of the latest update, specific details regarding the interception remain scarce. However, it’s been disclosed that the arms were seized during a routine inspection of incoming consignments at the port. At present, it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

This recent interception marks another significant seizure by Customs, following a similar event just eight months prior. During that operation, Customs officials seized 31 arms of various types at both Tin-Can and Multi-Purpose Terminals (PTML) ports in Lagos. At the time, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, informed the press that two suspects had been apprehended in connection with the earlier seizure.
