An American woman died in a shark attack in the Bahamas
A tragic incident occurred as an American woman lost her life in a shark attack while paddleboarding in the Bahamas, as reported by the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
The unfortunate incident unfolded near the back of the Sandals resort, approximately three-quarters of a mile out to sea, where the woman was paddleboarding with a male relative.
Prompted by the attack, a lifeguard swiftly responded on a rescue boat. Despite administering CPR, the injuries sustained on the right side of her body proved to be too severe, according to the police.
The victim, a woman in her 40s believed to be from Boston, has not been publicly identified, as stated by the police.
Last year, there were five reported unprovoked shark attack fatalities worldwide, with one occurring in the U.S., two in Egypt, and two in South Africa, according to data from the Florida Museum of Natural History’s International Shark Attack File.
In response to the tragic incident, Sandals released a statement expressing deep sadness over the guest’s passing during a paddleboarding activity nearly a mile from the shore. The resort conveyed heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones, emphasizing their ongoing support during this challenging time.
