The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, recently convened a crucial meeting with stakeholders of the Abacheke community in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area. This gathering followed the tragic incident on Friday where gunmen on motorcycles stormed the community, unleashing a hail of bullets that claimed the lives of four youths and left another critically injured.
Initially, it was reported that one youth had been rushed to the hospital for treatment, but tragically succumbed to their injuries on Monday, as confirmed by the state police. In response to this alarming escalation of violence, Commissioner Danjuma engaged with community leaders, including former Minister of State for Education, Goodluck Opiah, to address the pressing issue of security and prevent further bloodshed.
The meeting, held at the palace of the traditional ruler of Abacheke Community, HRH Eze Ikeji Bright, drew attention to the urgent need for enhanced security measures. Commissioner Danjuma reiterated his commitment to community policing, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local stakeholders to safeguard lives and property. Measures to bolster security in Abacheke and neighboring communities were discussed, aiming to restore peace and reassure residents of their safety.
