Fresh details have surfaced regarding the recent robbery at two banks in Kogi State last Thursday, revealing the tragic loss of one police officer and one security guard during a shootout with the armed assailants. State Commissioner of Police, Bernard Onuoha, disclosed this after he visited the crime scene in Ayingba on Friday.
According to reports, the attack on two banks occurred around 5 pm last Thursday amidst sporadic gunshots. Eyewitnesses described the assailants, numbering over a dozen, storming the town with intention of executing a large-scale robbery on several banks in the area.
In response to the incident, the state police command issued a statement late Friday, confirming the Commissioner’s visit and condemning the attack. The statement also revealed the deployment of tactical teams to restore normalcy and the initiation of investigations by the Deputy Commissioner of the Criminal Investigation Department to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.
