Barcelona & Real Madrid planning to sign Mason Greenwood in January 2024
Mason Greenwood is currently on loan at Getafe
Real Madrid and Barcelona are both interested in securing him permanently in January as he is a free agent at Manchester United.
There are speculations about him potentially becoming teammates with Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu.
Greenwood has had a positive start with the Madrid club after leaving Old Trafford, and he is reportedly open to signing a full-time contract there.
In February, the 22-year-old faced accusations of attempted rape, controlling and abusive behavior, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm, but these charges were dismissed.
Following a prolonged internal investigation at Manchester United, it was decided that he would leave the club, and he joined Getafe on loan on transfer deadline day in August.
Recent reports suggest that Greenwood is happy with his life in Spain and is willing to commit to Getafe for a longer term. He scored his first goal for the team in their recent 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo.
According to The Mirror, there are reports suggesting that Mason Greenwood may have multiple suitors beyond his current club. Sevilla and several other undisclosed La Liga teams are rumored to be interested in acquiring him from Manchester United, where he is under contract until 2025.
Despite finding themselves in the lower half of the Spanish top division, the Europa League winners are once again participating in the Champions League this season.
In January 2022, when charges against Greenwood surfaced online, Manchester United suspended him. However, after all charges were dismissed in February 2023, the club initially considered reintegrating him into the team.
Subsequently, faced with criticism from fans, staff, and lawmakers, they changed their stance and announced that he would not be able to conclude his career at United.
